HOW
AMAZING
IS HIS
Love
ROBYN TROSTLE
ILLUSTRATOR MARY CARRELL
How Amazing Is His Love is the story of creation as it is depicted in the Psalms. When it is time for man to be created, the author dissects Psalm 139 and goes into great detail about how deeply the God of the universe knows, cares, and is acquainted with each one of us as an individual. The story ends with all of God’s creations offering Him praise. There are many places in the Bible that tell of God’s love, but Psalm 139 is the book that speaks about how intricately God knows every detail of our lives and our being, thus revealing His great love toward us. When we are able to fully understand the love God has for us and how He is concerned with even the smallest of details of our lives, it is a truly amazing and freeing experience. Robyn Trostle was born and raised in East Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and later completed a Masters in Library and Information Science from Trevecca Nazarene University and worked as a school librarian. She retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard after 22 years of service. She currently serves as a Coordinator at a local Senior Center. She loves to read, crochet, and spend time with her husband and two adult children. Mary Carrell grew up in Quakertown, Pennsylvania but now calls East Tennessee home. She loves drawing and painting with oils and watercolors. She is currently working as a commercial pilot. Mary enjoys traveling with her husband, playing ukulele, and singing.
The Story Behind the Book's Creation
More than twelve years ago as I was reading Psalm 139, a passage of scripture that still speaks deeply to me, the Lord birthed an idea to write this book. The purpose was so that others would realize how loved and special they are to Him. I shared this with very few family and friends because, let’s get real, it sounded a little crazy to me at the time. I knew nothing about writing a book or having it published. I wrote the initial draft and went through some inquiries about having it published. Along the way, as I continued to read Psalms, certain passages would “jump off the page” at me and I began writing those down. Eventually those were incorporated into the book showing the story of creation as it is reflected in the Psalms. Then came the long search and wait for someone to illustrate. I asked many and I suppose it seemed like a crazy idea to them as well as no one signed on for the task. I prayed for several years for an illustrator. Mary Carrell, my great-niece married into the family in 2017, but I didn’t find out about her amazing talent until almost 2 1/2 years later. She immediately said yes to the project and began working on the illustrations. We would meet and discuss a few pages at a time and she would go to work creating the images we discussed. It took her just a little over two years to complete 41 illustrations in her “spare” time. We worked together well and I just knew from the beginning she was the one for the job. She truly made the book come alive! Thank you Mary! I had a few family members, friends, and coworkers read it and help with the editing process. Thanks to all of you, you know who you are. The day the book finally went to press, our son Noah, was in a serious car accident and it was hard to celebrate at the time. He recovered and then we found out the book was finally published and available for preorder on May 18th. That date doesn’t mean anything to the average person but it is the anniversary of my dad’s passing 39 years ago. My prayer over this book is Isaiah 55:11. Praying it will plant seeds of faith!
